Preppy Looks for Guys

I know that all of us preppy gals swoon over the sight of preppy guys. Literally if a guy is wearing boat shoes and a bow tie, I'm sold. So today I wanted to show all of y'all some of my favorite preppy looks for guys to wear. Some of the best preppy stores for guys include Vineyard Vines, Brooks Brothers, Nordstrom, J.Press, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and Country Club Prep. Obviously there are more, but I'm not a guy, so I don't shop for guys haha. So anyways, I wanted to you some of my favorite guy pieces from different websites featured above and show you what I feel like are the male preppy essentials.

Every guy has to have a pair of boat shoes and this fabulous pair of seersucker Sperry's is from Nordstrom.

Seersucker and bow ties are a must so why not put them into one. I absolutely love this bow tie from
J. Press (aka where the Chuck Bass scarf came from).

The suit a guy wears says a lot about him and this suit from Brooks Brothers is absolutely stunning. It was inspired by The Great Gatsby and is so perf.

These Vineyard Vines shorts are so perfect and they come in an array of colors too.

Obviously every preppy guy has got to have his Vineyard Vines and this tee is so fun and great for something to lounge in.

Gingham is a must-have preppy pattern and this shirt from Vineyard Vines is a perfect shirt for something casual.

Every guy needs that classic polo. A color like navy is perfect so that it will match with a ton.

An Awesome Dorm Room

With my sister heading off to college this fall, and us visiting her college today, I wanted to show you some super adorable dorm rooms that I would have if I were going to college. The majority of the items are from PBTeen because PBTeen is amazing quality, and will be sure to last through those rough, {but fun} college years.

                                  {dorm 1}                                                                  {dorm 2}

So the first dorm is so cute with the fun hot pink stripes and black polka-dotted accents. Plus, I absolutely love the sorority pillow. It's so cute for if I were ever in a sorority and wanted to represent it!

The other dorm look is more surfer-ish, but so cute! I love the lavender and aqua colors together and like the mixing of the ikat and tie-dye patterns. Both of these looks were created from the room designer on PBTeen.

Here are some more of my dorm must-haves for college {if I were going}:

A bean bag is literally perfect for all those late night study sessions. It keeps you in a comfy spot, but helps you to not fall asleep if you're studying while laying on your bed. Plus, the personalization is so cute!

I absolutely love this calendar and corkboard duo! The calendar is extremely helpful when planning things for parties (if you're in a sorority) or writing down when you have exams. The corkboard can be fun with adding pictures and personalizing it to your liking.

Lastly, I feel like one of these towel wraps is perfect for the dorms! Especially if you're living in a co-ed dorm, you'll want to be covered up when you're getting ready/heading to and from the showers. Plus, you can add your sorority personalization onto the robe! How perfect!

Hope you liked this post about college must haves and I hope it was helpful to you! Thanks for reading!

Shopping Tips

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to share with you some of my shopping tips! I know that not everyone out there is a good shopper, but fear not! With these helpful tips you can improve your shopping experience! I don't mean that someone is a bad shopper, but some people just don't have a very good experience with shopping. So I'm here to share with you a few ways to have a positive shopping trip!

1. First things first, don't be picky, but don't be an impulse buyer.
Being picky while shopping is an issue that many people have, myself included. I used to be extremely picky when shopping, so I never ended up buying something. Then later I would wish I had bought some of the things that I saw when shopping. My main tip is do not be picky! Try a lot of different things on, event things you may not think you like. This will help you to have a lot of options when shopping. Often I'll go into the dressing room with 10 different things and find out that only two of them suit me well. Although you shouldn't be picky, make sure you are not being an impulsive buyer. If you see something, don't just go right ahead and buy it! Unless it's something you absolutely know you'll love, be sure to take a look around the rest of the store to see if there's anything that exceeds that certain product. If you're absolutely certain that you want it, then go ahead and buy it!

2. Next, be sure to prepare for your shopping trip.
Nothings worse than going shopping with little money to spend. Be sure to have saved up enough money for your shopping trip. This will come in handy when you find something that you absolutely love, but it's a little pricey. Also, go through your closet and use these tips. If you're looking in your closet is there anything that doesn't fit? Anything you  can't remember having worn recently? Those go to the charity pile. Also use this as some words of wisdom while cleaning out your closet: If you were in a store right now and saw this article of clothing, would you buy it? If you answered yes, keep it. If you answered no, give it away. Go through your closet before you shop so you know what you should be looking for. Also, coupons may come in handy when shopping! Do a little bit of research to finding coupons suitable for your shopping trip. The more coupons the better!

3. Also, be sure to pick a compatible shopping buddy.
When looking for someone to shop with, go with someone who has similar taste in clothes to you so that you'll want to hit the majority of the same stores. I tend to always go shopping with my friend Paige because we have very similar styles, and we know our shopping routine. Plus, she is not a picky shopper at all so it helps me to be less picky when we're shopping. Surrounding yourself with someone who will be honest about what looks good on you when you're shopping is super helpful so be sure to find someone that will do that for you!

4. Always look for good sales!
I always feel much more accomplished when I buy something high quality for dirt cheap. Check out the sale rack for "last season's" clothes, so you can get great deals! The reason why I put quotes around "last season's" is because to me last season to the store, isn't really last season for me. A lot of the clothes in the sale are usually still on trend. Plus if you have a sale, plus a coupon. Man you're saving some money there! And what can that money buy you? More clothes! Haha!

5. My last tip is to mentally create an outfit using that item of clothing.
Often when I'm shopping I'll take the article of clothing and visualize a look with that piece. If you can't do that while in the store, chances are you're not going to be able to create one once you get home. Also, think about how many ways you'll be able to wear the piece. The more the better, that way you know you'll get a lot of wear out of the piece. And finally, take a little advice from Leigh Anne Tuohy, think "Is this me?". She also says, "If you don't like it in the store, you're not going to like it when you get home". These quotes are so true because you really need to imagine yourself in the outfit and really like it in the store for you to like it later on.

I hope these shopping tips help you on your next shopping excursion and leave a comment below your favorite shopping tips!

Thrift Shop Finds

So the other day my friend Jane and I went thrifting at a local thrift store. I was happily surprised with some of the great finds that I had! The thrift store we went to is pretty small, but is pretty easy to find some cool things. Plus, all the proceeds go to charity so that is just a bonus! Anyways, here is what I found!

So the first thing I found was this tie from J.Crew. Now I know what you're thinking, what are you going to do with this random tie. I know I won't be wearing it, but I was thinking about taking the seams out to get the fabric flat and then turning it into a bracelet. Plus, the tie was only $2 so if it doesn't work out I haven't wasted a lot of money on an attempted DIY. Leave a comment below if you want to see a tutorial on this!

The next thing I found was this pink Brooks Brothers sweater. The sweater is a little big, but who cares! Sweaters are supposed to be comfy, right? I thought this was such a steal because it was only $15, and it's real Brooks Brothers. The fabric is really high quality and this was an offer I couldn't turn down!

My favorite thing I found was this Stanford sweatshirt. I already own 2 Yale sweatshirts, but who can go wrong with a Stanford one! This is so comfy and is the same brand as one of my Yale ones (Champion) and it fits perfectly! It's perfectly a little baggy and so comfortable! It was only $11.25 so it really can't be beat!

The last thing I found was this really random Florida t-shirt. It's my favorite color (Tiffany blue, but it doesn't appear that way in the photo), so I really couldn't resist. Plus, I think it's kind of fun having really random t-shirts to wear sometimes. It was super low cost at only $3 so how could I refuse?

Now, obviously Jane and I couldn't help but take my new camera along with us and document some of this fun thrifting. And how fitting is the song Thrift Shop! So we made our own fun music video! Check it out below!

Thrift Shop Video!

For some strange reason it won't let me embed the video and I'm not sure why, but just please check out the link because it is amazing!
