What I Watch

During the school-year I rarely watch TV, I usually just watch Netflix from my computer (although I shouldn't anyways), but in the summertime I'm very into keeping up with my favorite shows. So I wanted to share with you my favorite shows that I've loved watching recently.

What I Watch Weekly:

The Fosters
This show is super dramatic, but very addicting. Plus, Jake T. Austin is in it and who doesn't love him? This show follows two mothers and their foster children. Each child has a very interesting story on how they got there and the show covers each individual child and their life after being welcomed to the family. The show also has overall a really good message to it. The show is super good and I really recommend it! (ABC Family Monday's 9/8c)

The Vineyard
Okay, for any preppy person the title would catch your eye. The show takes place in Martha's Vineyard for the summer. There are a bunch of characters and the show displays all of the relationships and drama between the cast. I thought this was going to be a legit TV show, but it's more of a reality show like The Hills. I've only seen the first episode, but it is super good! (ABC Family Tuesday's 10/9c)

Camp
This show is basically about a family camp and all of the workers inside of it. Camp shows all of the summer flings and the daily life of the campers. The show is really just a fun summer show. It's hard to sum it all up so just watch it! (NBC Wednesday's 10/9c)

P.S. If you miss any of these shows the episodes are online after they air for a limited time on the ABC Family/NBC website!

What shows you do you love?

Another Mini Haul + New Theme (coming soon)!

So my friend Grace and I went on a Gap excursion the other afternoon and purchased some more items that were on amazing sale. We made a YouTube haul so here it is!

A new theme here on Preppy Daily is coming soon. I'm planning on pink + green because my mom was like those colors would be super cute. She loves her Delta Zeta heritage. But, stupid blogger hates letting me update my layout and stuff so it hasn't been working, but hopefully it will be fixed soon! Anyways, check out the video!

Best. Song. Ever.

Okay so it's 12:08 AM as I write this post and I'm not sure why I've been so off with writing posts lately. For some odd reason I always feel like I have a post already scheduled, when I don't. And in the summertime I stay up really late so then I end up writing the post late or something. Anyways, I'm sorry and this is really weird. But anyways, my friend Grace and I created a music video for One Direction's new song Best Song Ever. I think this video is really fun, but keep in mind we were just messing around.

Anyways, here you go!

Mind The Construction

I'm not sure why, but I always seem to get sick of my blog themes super quickly. So right now I'm in the midst of changing up my blog design. Leave any suggestions in the comments below or email me at preppydaily@gmail.com. Give any suggestions to color schemes, layouts and more. This is your chance to give any input that you have! Any ideas are greatly appreciated. But, hope you can deal with the fact that my site may not look it's best right now because of all the changes that I'm making.

Mid-Year Goals

First of all, happy Friday! I'm back from badminton camp! The camp was absolutely a ton of fun and was definitely the best camp I've ever been to. Expect a recap video of my camp experience up soon! Anyways, getting back on track with my posts, I wanted to share with you guys my mid-year goals. I know that it's more than half-way through the year, but I still thought it would be good for me to set some goals. During the school-year, each month I set goals for myself and posted them in the Notes section of my Lilly planner. So here are my goals at the moment for mid-year. If you guys like these let me know so that I could do them monthly if you want to see that!

Buy Good Quality Products
I find that I often buy crappy items that are cheap because I'm weird about spending a lot of money on something. But I've really realized something. If it's a lot of money, it's usually worth the money. Take my camera for example, it was very expensive (around $600), but works stunningly well. If I spend my money on good quality products I'll be wasting less money.

Stop Complaining
I complain so much, and I hate it. People always tell me I complain a lot, but it's so difficult to stop. I've been trying really hard to be appreciative of everything that I have and appreciating my life as a whole. Because honestly, I have a great life. I have been really trying to make the best of every situation and not complain and have a great time always.

Be Kind To People
Okay, this is actually something  I need to work on. I make fun of people (like my friends) as a joke, and usually it's funny, but I think that it's been pretty bad. I think that I should just be a nicer person in general because it'll pay off in the long run.

Work Hard To Get Where You Want
I always dream, but I really want to turn my dreams into reality. People always say, if you love what you do then it's not really work. This is absolutely true! I wish that my job was to be a blogger because I love blogging so much! I always enjoy writing all of my posts and get so excited when I see that people are reading it and commenting on it. But, to eventually be a writer, I need to study hard, get good grades, get into a good college, and get fabulous grades in college. This sounds like a lot to do in only 3 years now, but if you break it down it's not too bad. Plus, there are friends and family to help you along the way.

Live Like You're Going To Die
I think that the quote above is very strong. Honestly, what would you do if you knew you were going to die tomorrow? I always try to be adventurous, but also think that this means showing other people that you care. To me this is being kind and good to your friends so that if you did die, they knew that you really did appreciate them being your friend.

Comment your goals if you have any!

Long Hair, Don't Care.

I saw that the College Prepster was posting about wearing braids in the summertime to keep your hair from weighing you down. I don't always read the College Prepster {I'm just never hopped onto that train yet}, but she's definitely right. It's been getting really hot here and keeping my hair up is a must. But, also wearing my natural hair is what I have been doing. So today I wanted to share with you my must have hair products for the summertime. There's really only a few, but I don't want my hair getting weighed down in the summertime!

This is the Matrix Active Setting Spray. This is actually supposed to be a heat protectant, but I find that it's a little too stick to serve it's purpose. Instead, I repurposed it to be a light hairspray. I just take this and spritz it onto a rat tail comb and then comb any little flyaways or frizz that I have on my hair. I find that this works very well and doesn't leave my hair with a hard residue like hairspray does.

The other product I use is this leave in conditioner. This stuff makes my hair feel so soft and smooth and this is the best smelling product I've used like ever. Plus it helps to keep your hair soft to the touch even after soaking it in chlorine all day when swimming.

Nordstrom Sale Pick-Ups

The Nordstrom Sale is here! I probably should have done a post about it earlier when the sale was just starting, but whatever! Anyways, real quick I'm heading down to badminton camp today and I've pre-scheduled all of my posts up to Tuesday, but I kind of got sidetracked with packing and all so no posts on Wednesday and Thursday sawwy! Also I might not be checking my email really. I think we can use phones, but I'll see when I get there. But I'm definitely not bringing my laptop. Haha. So now I will show you what I picked up at the Nordstrom sale! I had to do a return of my Tory Burch lobster case that ripped, so I got a gift card. I'm planning on doing some more purchases online before the sale ends.

I was in pretty dire need of a new pair of tennis shoes and I'm so happy I picked these babies up! I love them! They are so perfect and adorable! The colors look fabulous and bright in person and the shoes are so comfortable!

Original Price: $95.00
Sale Price: $62.90

These Zella leggings are perfect because they are not see through whatsoever! Plus, they are on such a good sale. They are the exact quality of the Lululemon ones, but I got these for such a steal!

I just grabbed these for badminton camp because I needed some more Nike shorts. I really like the print on these and think that it is really fun!

Oh! And I have a bit of news! One of my Polyvore designs was featured with the Brilliant Bloggers of the week on Polyvore! I was so happily surprised! Throwback Tag

Hey everyone! So today I decided to do the throwback tag because I have been listening to Hilary Duff recently {talk about throwback} and it made me remember all of my childhood years. So let's get started!

What year were you born in?

1997.

Do you have any pictures of yourself from when you were younger? If you do, show them.

What TV shows did you grow up watching?

I remember watching Lizzie McGuire, Drake & Josh, Zoey 101, The Amanda Show, Even Stevens, Hey Arnold, The Proud Family, Arthur, The Powerpuff Girls, Barney, The Big Comfy Couch, Rugrats, Recess, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Caillou, Rolie Polie Olie, Boy Meets World, Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, Dragon Tales, Kim Possible, CatDog, Zoom, Bob The Builder, Sister Sister, Full House, Hannah Montana, Scooby Doo, Sesame Street, Jimmy Neutron, Fairly Odd Parents,...

That is a super long list, but I mean I loved TV as a kid haha.

What did you want to be when you grow up and do you still want to be that?

When I was younger I really wanted to be teacher. I don't really want to be that any more, just because I'm not as interested in that anymore. If I had to be a teacher, I think I would still love it, but I probably won't major in anything for teaching during college.

Show a video of yourself when you were younger?

So these videos are all super embarrassing because I was definitely a very strange child. Haha, but here they are!

Let's just say I thought I was a very good dancer as a child.

What were your favorite toys to play with?

When I was younger I didn't have very many "favorite" toys. I always loved playing school with all of my random school supplies that I collected over the years. We also had a chalkboard painted on my basement wall so that I could play school and use it as a blackboard.

I also loved playing outside on my neighbors trampoline and on my swing set.

What's the most embarrassing thing that you can remember doing?

I really don't remember anything that embarrassing happening to me, so I really can't answer this question.

Read something you wrote when you were in Kindergarten.

I really can't find anything that I wrote in Kindergarden, sorry.

Three songs you loved as a child.

Come Clean-Hilary Duff

Hot in Here-Nelly

Best of Both Worlds-Hannah Montana

What was one funny thing you dressed up as for Halloween when you were younger?

One year I was a Homecoming Queen and I wore a fabulous dress and tiara.

Tell a funny story of something you remember happening when you were young.

I remember just being a really weird kid.

Are there any special things you've kept from when you were a child?

I never really had a stuffed animal or blanket that I cherished as a kid. I only really just have kept my old bedding from my old bedroom.

What was something weird you used to do as a child?

Eat blue cheese and bacon like there was no tomorrow {not together though haha}.

What's the scariest thing you remember that happened to you when you were younger?

Losing my Mom in a Linen's-and-Things.

How is the world now different from how it was like when you were a child?

I think now the world has become so filled with technology. Don't get me wrong I love my laptop, phone, TV's and all the advancements with technology that have been made through medicine, but nowadays the technology is taking over. Kids nowadays are always on iPads or iPods, even at such a young age. I think that now they forget to just go outside and have fun. They always have to be using some form of technology and I think this is going to continue to grow and get worse.

Hope you enjoyed this Throwback Tag!

Room Wishlist

A little over a year ago, I redid my room because it definitely needed some updating. Before I had redone it, it had stayed the same since I moved into my new house, which was about 8 years ago. My room theme was pink and green, chosen by my mother with her obsession with her sorority Delta Zeta. I liked it when I was younger, but I definitely outgrew the look by the time I was going into high school. I can basically show you exactly what my room looks like because I took the exact look from PBteen.

This is my exact bedding and sheets. My bed is pretty much the same and has a white headboard. My walls are aqua to match the bedding as well.

Now obviously, I love my room a lot, but there are a couple things that I have been wanting to add to my room to just improve it a little bit. So here are the things that I want to add.

A New Desk:

My desk is fine, but I don't love the limited space on it. Especially because I use the majority of it to just store random things, I want to have another desk to actually work on. This desk is fabulous because it doesn't have much storage (what I'm looking for), but it has one drawer for like pens and other necessary office supplies.

But, they also have literally the same version from Target for so much cheaper!

This version looks identical doesn't it? The dimensions are extremely close as well. My only concern is do I buy the cheaper one, or spend the money to get a higher quality product?

A New Chair:

I've had the exact same chair for so long. It's just this random green swivel chair from Office Max, but it's life is soon over. It has some stains on it, and is just super old. Plus, I put it together myself, so it never fully looked right haha. I really love this chair from PBteen so it would match my room and be super comfortable. I'm not sure if I should get arms or not though. My old one didn't have arms, but I think I'd like them.

Bulletin Board

I've been in need of something to add a little something to my walls because they are very bare. These colors go perfectly well with my color scheme of my room and I love this awesome style tile. I love the mixture of the calendar whiteboard, galviboard, corkboard and pegboard. I think it would spruce up my walls while allowing me to post fun things on it.

Another example to post things on my wall is this fun DIY I found on Pinterest.

All you do is glue on corks to a meter stick and I think this is so cute! But, I guarentee I probably won't make it because every DIY I'm like, "Oh, I'll so do that!" and then I never do it. But, it's an awesome idea!

Dress Form

I have wanted a dress form for the longest time, but have never purchased one. I always find ones at HomeGoods, but that is always when I'm shopping downtown and then am taking the train home {like I'm going to take a dress form on the train with me}. But, I've really been loving the tan one from PBteen. I want something basic so that it can travel with me and match any room color scheme that I have in the future.

Those are basically all the items that I am looking to add to my room. Thanks for reading and comment what you want for your room!

Country Club Prep

I was recently just looking around online and stumbled upon this website called Country Club Prep. I don't know how I couldn't have found this website earlier! It is so fabulous and has a ton of awesome goodies. It has great products and has a lot of awesome preppy brands. I know what you're thinking, well why wouldn't you just buy Vineyard Vines from the legit Vineyard Vines? But, if you order things from Country Club Prep you can order all of your favorite brands all at one, and skip the hassle of paying for shipping! Anyways, here are some of my favorite products from the Country Club Prep.

Preppy Looks for Guys

I know that all of us preppy gals swoon over the sight of preppy guys. Literally if a guy is wearing boat shoes and a bow tie, I'm sold. So today I wanted to show all of y'all some of my favorite preppy looks for guys to wear. Some of the best preppy stores for guys include Vineyard Vines, Brooks Brothers, Nordstrom, J.Press, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and Country Club Prep. Obviously there are more, but I'm not a guy, so I don't shop for guys haha. So anyways, I wanted to you some of my favorite guy pieces from different websites featured above and show you what I feel like are the male preppy essentials.

Every guy has to have a pair of boat shoes and this fabulous pair of seersucker Sperry's is from Nordstrom.

Seersucker and bow ties are a must so why not put them into one. I absolutely love this bow tie from
J. Press (aka where the Chuck Bass scarf came from).

The suit a guy wears says a lot about him and this suit from Brooks Brothers is absolutely stunning. It was inspired by The Great Gatsby and is so perf.

These Vineyard Vines shorts are so perfect and they come in an array of colors too.

Obviously every preppy guy has got to have his Vineyard Vines and this tee is so fun and great for something to lounge in.

Gingham is a must-have preppy pattern and this shirt from Vineyard Vines is a perfect shirt for something casual.

Every guy needs that classic polo. A color like navy is perfect so that it will match with a ton.

Hey everyone! I have no post for today because I'm still out of town and didn't bring my laptop, only my phone. So sorry about not having something up for today. But, here's a little sneak peak to tomorrow's post: preppy guide for men! Talk to y'all tomorrow!

An Awesome Dorm Room

With my sister heading off to college this fall, and us visiting her college today, I wanted to show you some super adorable dorm rooms that I would have if I were going to college. The majority of the items are from PBTeen because PBTeen is amazing quality, and will be sure to last through those rough, {but fun} college years.

                                  {dorm 1}                                                                  {dorm 2}

So the first dorm is so cute with the fun hot pink stripes and black polka-dotted accents. Plus, I absolutely love the sorority pillow. It's so cute for if I were ever in a sorority and wanted to represent it!

The other dorm look is more surfer-ish, but so cute! I love the lavender and aqua colors together and like the mixing of the ikat and tie-dye patterns. Both of these looks were created from the room designer on PBTeen.

Here are some more of my dorm must-haves for college {if I were going}:

A bean bag is literally perfect for all those late night study sessions. It keeps you in a comfy spot, but helps you to not fall asleep if you're studying while laying on your bed. Plus, the personalization is so cute!

I absolutely love this calendar and corkboard duo! The calendar is extremely helpful when planning things for parties (if you're in a sorority) or writing down when you have exams. The corkboard can be fun with adding pictures and personalizing it to your liking.

Lastly, I feel like one of these towel wraps is perfect for the dorms! Especially if you're living in a co-ed dorm, you'll want to be covered up when you're getting ready/heading to and from the showers. Plus, you can add your sorority personalization onto the robe! How perfect!

Hope you liked this post about college must haves and I hope it was helpful to you! Thanks for reading!

Shopping Tips

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to share with you some of my shopping tips! I know that not everyone out there is a good shopper, but fear not! With these helpful tips you can improve your shopping experience! I don't mean that someone is a bad shopper, but some people just don't have a very good experience with shopping. So I'm here to share with you a few ways to have a positive shopping trip!

1. First things first, don't be picky, but don't be an impulse buyer.
Being picky while shopping is an issue that many people have, myself included. I used to be extremely picky when shopping, so I never ended up buying something. Then later I would wish I had bought some of the things that I saw when shopping. My main tip is do not be picky! Try a lot of different things on, event things you may not think you like. This will help you to have a lot of options when shopping. Often I'll go into the dressing room with 10 different things and find out that only two of them suit me well. Although you shouldn't be picky, make sure you are not being an impulsive buyer. If you see something, don't just go right ahead and buy it! Unless it's something you absolutely know you'll love, be sure to take a look around the rest of the store to see if there's anything that exceeds that certain product. If you're absolutely certain that you want it, then go ahead and buy it!

2. Next, be sure to prepare for your shopping trip.
Nothings worse than going shopping with little money to spend. Be sure to have saved up enough money for your shopping trip. This will come in handy when you find something that you absolutely love, but it's a little pricey. Also, go through your closet and use these tips. If you're looking in your closet is there anything that doesn't fit? Anything you  can't remember having worn recently? Those go to the charity pile. Also use this as some words of wisdom while cleaning out your closet: If you were in a store right now and saw this article of clothing, would you buy it? If you answered yes, keep it. If you answered no, give it away. Go through your closet before you shop so you know what you should be looking for. Also, coupons may come in handy when shopping! Do a little bit of research to finding coupons suitable for your shopping trip. The more coupons the better!

3. Also, be sure to pick a compatible shopping buddy.
When looking for someone to shop with, go with someone who has similar taste in clothes to you so that you'll want to hit the majority of the same stores. I tend to always go shopping with my friend Paige because we have very similar styles, and we know our shopping routine. Plus, she is not a picky shopper at all so it helps me to be less picky when we're shopping. Surrounding yourself with someone who will be honest about what looks good on you when you're shopping is super helpful so be sure to find someone that will do that for you!

4. Always look for good sales!
I always feel much more accomplished when I buy something high quality for dirt cheap. Check out the sale rack for "last season's" clothes, so you can get great deals! The reason why I put quotes around "last season's" is because to me last season to the store, isn't really last season for me. A lot of the clothes in the sale are usually still on trend. Plus if you have a sale, plus a coupon. Man you're saving some money there! And what can that money buy you? More clothes! Haha!

5. My last tip is to mentally create an outfit using that item of clothing.
Often when I'm shopping I'll take the article of clothing and visualize a look with that piece. If you can't do that while in the store, chances are you're not going to be able to create one once you get home. Also, think about how many ways you'll be able to wear the piece. The more the better, that way you know you'll get a lot of wear out of the piece. And finally, take a little advice from Leigh Anne Tuohy, think "Is this me?". She also says, "If you don't like it in the store, you're not going to like it when you get home". These quotes are so true because you really need to imagine yourself in the outfit and really like it in the store for you to like it later on.

I hope these shopping tips help you on your next shopping excursion and leave a comment below your favorite shopping tips!

Thrift Shop Finds

So the other day my friend Jane and I went thrifting at a local thrift store. I was happily surprised with some of the great finds that I had! The thrift store we went to is pretty small, but is pretty easy to find some cool things. Plus, all the proceeds go to charity so that is just a bonus! Anyways, here is what I found!

So the first thing I found was this tie from J.Crew. Now I know what you're thinking, what are you going to do with this random tie. I know I won't be wearing it, but I was thinking about taking the seams out to get the fabric flat and then turning it into a bracelet. Plus, the tie was only $2 so if it doesn't work out I haven't wasted a lot of money on an attempted DIY. Leave a comment below if you want to see a tutorial on this!

The next thing I found was this pink Brooks Brothers sweater. The sweater is a little big, but who cares! Sweaters are supposed to be comfy, right? I thought this was such a steal because it was only $15, and it's real Brooks Brothers. The fabric is really high quality and this was an offer I couldn't turn down!

My favorite thing I found was this Stanford sweatshirt. I already own 2 Yale sweatshirts, but who can go wrong with a Stanford one! This is so comfy and is the same brand as one of my Yale ones (Champion) and it fits perfectly! It's perfectly a little baggy and so comfortable! It was only $11.25 so it really can't be beat!

The last thing I found was this really random Florida t-shirt. It's my favorite color (Tiffany blue, but it doesn't appear that way in the photo), so I really couldn't resist. Plus, I think it's kind of fun having really random t-shirts to wear sometimes. It was super low cost at only $3 so how could I refuse?

Now, obviously Jane and I couldn't help but take my new camera along with us and document some of this fun thrifting. And how fitting is the song Thrift Shop! So we made our own fun music video! Check it out below!

Thrift Shop Video!

For some strange reason it won't let me embed the video and I'm not sure why, but just please check out the link because it is amazing!

Thanks for reading!

Yesterday I was rummaging through my fridge looking for something healthy-ish to eat. I was looking for lettuce to make a salad, but I found spinach instead. Then, I thought of the perfect summer salad! I knew some of the ingredients, but looked online to see if there was anything else that other people liked to add to a berry type of salad. Everything in this is salad is super good for you, and let me just say this salad is so delicious! So let me go ahead and show you how to make it!
